Exciting News!
Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee has contacted Dana for help with recruiting students for positions they have vacant. They employ over 7,000 employees at their facility in Tennessee and 12,000 nationwide. They make plastics, fibers and cigarette filters. They currently administer WorkKeys on-site. Dana informed Eastman's HR person that we have many IT students with National Gold CRCs. She was so excited!
They would like to recruit our students for the following positions: IT, Operators, Production, Lab Analysts, and Machinists. Their website is www.eastman.com. Interested applicants may apply online.
Good luck. Have a great day.

Hello
Happy Sunday!
Please let me address a concern some of you have expressed because you are required to change classrooms. Unfortunately, due to the need to share the computer lab in F221 with curriculum courses, it is necessary for us to alternate the use of the room. I would love to have all the classes in one room, but unfortunately, we don't have a room that is free every day that has the computer equipment we need. As you move from one module to the next, it will be necessary to change rooms. I am sorry for the confusion. The Monday night Linux course will meet in F218.
If you have been contacted, by an employer, please be sure to notify me. It is necessary that we have this information to track the success of the course.
I hope you all have a great week.

Google Update
Hello CCC&TI Students!
Here is an update on what's happening at Google.
As you all know Google is moving ahead as fast as they can to try to open the doors of the new data center in Lenoir. You also might guess that an opening this large always comes with a few minor changes and developments as well.
Here is some information you might find useful.
What Google is trying to do is build a solid infrastructure first before most of the hiring begins next year. So that means they are focused on hiring lead infrastructure positions before bringing in all other hires next year (this is common practice for all of their data centers). The IT Institute has been focused on entry level positions which will be hired next year.
The great thing that is happening now is that Google has already reviewed the packets for
folks that have completed the IT Institute this summer. What they noticed is some
of the students have had a lot more experience than the assistant positions needs and are looking at them for more lead roles. This doesn't mean that they won't be considered for assistant positions as well but they want to make sure they find the best possible fit for students here at CCC&TI. We are excited that students have already received emails and phone calls to start getting the ball rolling in pursuing their careers. Remember this is just the first step in many you will be taking towards as successful future in the world of technology!
Thanks.
Donna Bean & Susie Vaks, Sr. Technical Program Manager Google Inc.
